Beef Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 punnet Stewing / Braising Steak
  • 2 red onions
  • 3-4 carrots
  • 2-3 parsnips
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 500ml bottle Guinness (or suitably pretentious local dark ale)
  • 2 beef stock cubes
  • Dumpling mix
  • large handful flour
  • Oil

Method

  1. Preheat pan with some oil
  2. Add flour, salt and pepper to food bag, mix then add steak and jiggle until steak coated. Empty entire bag (including all flour) into the hot pan
  3. Fry until steak browned; add large chunks of onion
  4. Dice carrots, parsnips, potatoes then add once Onion softened
  5. Add stock cubes then add beer and enough water to cover
  6. Simmer for about 90-100 minutes in total, making and cooking dumplings as on packet instructions.
